The end of a (BYO) era…
by JoJo's • News on May 26, 2014
Since we first opened over ten years ago, JoJo’s had allowed you to bring-your-own (BYO) wine. This was because we were only a very small restaurant and we were more interested in cooking great food than going through all the red tape involved with getting a licence to serve alcohol. We continued with this stance when we moved to our current (much larger) premises in Herne Bay Road but we did pack Paul off to school again three years ago to swot up and we were then awarded an alcohol licence. Now, after a lot of thought and with some regret, we have decided to end BYO at JoJo’s. This is effective immediately from today.
Why we are ending BYO
This has been a difficult decision to make but like many small businesses we are facing a steady stream of rapidly rising costs (ingredients, electric, gas, rates, staff, insurances and so on) and we have decided that given the choice between making some of our hard working and experienced team redundant, or ending bring-your-own, it was a “no brainer”.
In the last few months we have invested considerable time and effort into sourcing some great tasting red, white, rosé and sparkling wines at the fairest possible prices. As well as the ones listed on our standard menu, please check our blackboard for our specials – we are constantly looking for amazing wines at reasonable prices so when we find something that fits we’ll pop it on the board.
So to sum up, it as been a hard decision to make about finally ending our BYO policy – we hope you will understand our thinking and we and the team very much look forward to welcoming you to JoJo’s soon.
Thank you.
Nikki & Paul
Short break…

Sorry
by JoJo's • News on April 3, 2014
Well the best laid plans of mice, men and restauranteurs go go horribly wrong. And here at JoJo’s we are sorry to say that we seemed to have managed to upset some of our customers with the change to our opening hours and day-time menus. Our idea of serving a more limited menu during the day has also come back to haunt us.
We did not realise how popular the longer hours (with a smaller menu) would be.
We seriously underestimated how many people would come in their lunch hour – and we were not fully prepared to serve lots of food fast to lots of people in exactly the same hour of the day.
We also managed to upset some of our regulars who loved to be able to book in for lunch, with the full menu, safe in the knowledge that there would be a table for them.
Obviously we really value you, our customers, and we absolutely hate letting you down. So for the moment we are reverting back to our previous opening times (see below) and lunch-time restaurant menu whilst we re-think everything and again we apologise to anyone who did not receive the service they deserved.
